Damaged Window Frames
At the Hampton Inn in DeBary, Florida, metal window frames were suffering from two types of damage: sun-fading on the north side of the building and rust and oxidation caused by the sprinkler system on the south side.
During a hands-on class at The Stone and Tile School (now known as The Surface Care PROS Learning Institute, a division of Surface Care PROS), instructors demonstrated a high-performance product and process for restoring and protecting metal window frames. With permission from the hotel, one of its windows was used as a training demo. The result was a dramatically restored finish that amazed everyone.
18 months later, when the hotel underwent a brand-mandated exterior renovation, including fresh stucco and paint, the worn and oxidized window frames stood out in stark contrast to the building’s new façade. The property manager revisited the condition of the sample window and was impressed that it still looked freshly restored. He requested the remaining windows be treated to match.
Since Surface Care PROS does not perform service work directly, they contacted Remedy Surface Care, a trusted Surface Care PRO Partner, to complete the restoration across the property.
The Process
Remedy Surface Care began by carefully prepping each window frame—removing oxidation, corrosion, and debris—followed by a thorough cleaning. They then applied a cutting-edge, EPA-compliant coating designed to restore the original appearance, resist UV fading, and remain clear without yellowing or trapping dirt. This coating also makes future maintenance much easier.
The Results
As the before and after images show, the difference was striking. The color and finish of the window frames were dramatically improved, enhancing the overall look of the property and helping the hotel meet brand renovation standards.
What the Client Had to Say
“For a brand-required renovation, our Hampton Inn DeBary was required to ‘repair or replace the exterior window frames’ to address fading and long-term damage from the sun. Surface Care PROS had previously used one of our windows to train students on the proper application of their product. Based on the great appearance of that demo window more than a year after application, we moved forward with having all the windows done.
They worked quickly and were able to repair the window frames, restoring them to a condition we hadn’t seen in at least 10 to 15 years. I’m very happy with the product. If I had a tip, it would be to apply this kind of protection much earlier—it would have prevented years of damage.”
