PROBLEM
Dull, Scratched, Cracked Marble
No restorative work had been done on the historic Cathedral of Saint Paul in Saint Paul, MN since it was built 100 years ago, and the 13,000 square feet of marble floors and thirty-foot tall pillars had become dull, scratched and, in some places, cracked. With a centennial celebration being planned, this stone needed some professional attention and care.
SOLUTION
Marble Repair and Restoration
Classic Marble Restorations technicians worked tirelessly to fill cracks and holes in the 35 different varieties of marble with custom-colored polyester epoxy resin for a seamless look. Areas that had severe wear and tear were ground down, essentially creating a brand new floor.
They used custom scaffolding to clean and polish the thirty-foot tall marble pillars surrounding the main altar.
With their services, this building regained a gorgeous, reflective appearance for the congregation to enjoy in time for the 100-year celebration.
Special thanks to the Cathedral Heritage Foundation for funding this restoration project.
